Direct & Indirect Speech
•Direct:
Direct speech is- directly saying what a person is telling to another person.
–Ram said ,” I am very busy”
•Indirect:
In this, someone is reporting what a person said to another person
–Ram said that he was very busy
To change direct Speech to indirect
The following are the important things to be noted;
•If sentence is assertive/interrogative?
•Reporting verbs according to sentence
–Said/told/asked/ordered/requested
•Use connective word ‘that/ question word/whether/if/to’
•Avoid inverted commas
•Change in tense – the tense of the verb will be changed
