  • Nominated to Madras Assembly(1936 & 1947)

2. Akkamma Cherian

Born : 14 Feb1909, Kanjirappilly

Father : thomman Cheriyan

Mother : Annamma

Died : 5 May 1982

  • “ Jhansi Rani of Travancore”- Gandhi
  • Leader of Rajdhani March- Thampanoor to Kowdiyar(1939)
  • President- Tranvancore state congress- @ the time of Quit India
  • Elected- Travancore state Assembly-1947
  • Autobiography- Jeevitham oru Samaram
  • Wrote : 1114-nte Katha”
  • “I am the leader, shoot me first before the others”
  • Statue: Vellayambalm , Trivandrum
  • Formed : Desa Sevika Sangh

3.Kaumudi Teacher

Born : 17 May,1917, Kannur

Father : A K Ramavarma Raja

Mother : Devaki Kettilamama

Died : 4 August 2009

  • Donated all her ornaments to Gandhiji- harijan Welfare Fund
  • Basel Mission School ground, Vadakara, 7th Januray 1934
  • “Your Sacrifice is a great ornament to you”- Gandhiji
  • Gandhiji wrote- article- “ Kaumudi Ji ki Thyag”( Newspaper Harijan)
  • “ The girl who walked alon the way of the future History”
  1. Annie Mascarene

 

Born : 6th June 1902, Thrivandrum

Father: Gabriel Mascrene

  • Died : 19 July 1963
  • Only women member from Travancore in Constituent Assembly
  • 1st women member Loksabha from Kerala
  • 1st women leader join Travancore State Congress working Committee
  • Closely associated with Accamma Cheriyann & pattom Thanu Pillai – Unification of Freedom struggle in Kerala
  • Member of Travancore State Legislative Assembly from 1948- 52
  • Minister- Health & power- 1949-1950
  • 2nd Lok sabha electction 1957- defeated by-  S Easwaran
  • Bronze Statue- Annie Mascarene Square- Vazhuthacaud – Tvm
  • Unveiled- Hamid Ansari- Vice President, 2013
  1. Arya pallam

  • Born : 1908
  • Father: Parameswaran Namboothiri
  • Mother:Arya Antharjanam
  • Died : 1989
  • Organised lowercaste in Valluvanadu to worship in the temple
  • Leader – Kathumuri movement
  • Brahmin wome’s march – Paliyam agitation
  • Resolution to Boycott Marakkuda
  • Article – Anthapura Mardana Nesanam
  1. Parvathy Nenminimangalam

  • Born : 1911, Thrissur
  • Father : Vishnu Namboothiri
  • Mother: Saraswathi Antharjanam
  • Died : 1947
  • Formation of Antharjana Samajam with Arya Pallam
  • Presided 1st meeting of Antharjana Samajam
  • Organised Bodhavalkarana Jatha – Malappuram to Kottayam
  • 1st women preside over – Youth wing of Yogakshema Sabha
  1. Rosamma Ponnose

  • Born  12 May 1913
  • Kanjirappally, Travancore
  • Died  28 December 2013 (aged 100),Salalah, Oman
  • Resting place:  Pathanamthitta district, Kerala
  • Youngest sister of Accamma Cheriyan
  • Elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly- 1957, Devikulam
  • 1st person – 1st ever by election of Kerala Legislative Assembly
  • Joined Travancore State Congress in 1938
  • Organised Desasevikas- women wing of Congress Volunteer Corps
  1. Lakshmi M Menon

  • Born : 27 March 1899
  • Died : 30th November 1994
  • 1st Malayalee woman to become Central minister of India
  • 1st Malyalee woman to become Rajyasabha member
  • (1952, Bihar)
  • Founder editor – magazine Roshni
  • Vice President- all India Prohibition council along with Moraraji Desai
  • Chairman- Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust – 1972-1985
  • Awarded Padmabhushan in 1957
